Fragments of a Dream is about those pieces of our dreams that stay with us long after we wake. A face, a color, a feeling, an image—we may not understand why it appeared or what it means, but something about it stays with us.
I believe our dreams can be a place where new ideas and possibilities begin to take shape. While we're dreaming, we may only see fragments and nothing seems to completely make sense. But sometimes those fragments are the beginning of something—a new idea, a realization, or a part of ourselves that is starting to come forward.
This painting began with a simple portrait and grew intuitively through layers of collage, color, flowers and expressive lines. I didn't have a plan for where it was going. I allowed each layer to lead me to the next, much like following the pieces of a dream without knowing where they will take you.
Maybe we aren't always meant to understand everything right away. Sometimes we just need to notice what stays with us and allow it the space to become something more.
That last thought feels especially like the heart of this painting to me. It moves the description beyond "this is what dreams are like" and gives the viewer something they can connect to in their own life.
